Abstracted Botanicals

The energy, the force, grace and outrageous color I find in nature supersedes all else when I’m focused on it. It’s a soothing balm and a quiet contemplative respite from the world. This series of floral abstracts started off one particularly abundant Spring here in Sonoma county. I came back from a walk and my hand just started to create these organic shapes. Then I lived for spell with a man who brought home elaborate bouquets of flowers which really got me going attempting to capture their essence by feeling into them rather than looking too intently at them. When that relationship ended and the heartbreak healed, I started to get interested in weeds, and their place in the floral ecosystem.
