Somewhere en Pleine Air 

This group of paintings is both an exploration of and a response to the experience of being French, American, bi-cultural, with an impossible to meet need to experience both environments at once in order to feel whole. These imaginary landscapes weave together memories of the softer lit landscapes of Southern France and the wilder, bolder, Northern California scenes I encounter daily. I’m looking to find a balance between the two and pull my fragmented sense of roots into one magical place. I’ve been deliberate in my use of detail, bold color, maximizing both sharp and fading memory to create a sense of paradise lost and found.
